Joyce de Ruiter

**Joyce’s story

“You’re not going to be of any value.”**

That’s what she was told by a doctor at 17 years old.

A year earlier, Joyce had been diagnosed with Usher syndrome, a progressive condition that causes both hearing and vision loss. Her perspective on the future changed in an instant. She dreamed of studying Visual Marketing. According to the doctor, she could forget about it.

Joyce had a choice: let her condition define her, or focus on what is possible. She chose the latter.

Today, Joyce uses the unique talents and perspectives that emerged from her journey in her work across sales, HR, event management, incentive management and change management.
From “you’re not going to be of any value” to proving just how much value you can create.
